Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Back in June the Harringay SNT posted on HoL to warn us all that they'd seen an increase in thefts from cars on the Ladder.

More recently various members have posted to say that their cars have been either 'visited' and or stolen from.

Tonight, I went out to the car for a short pick-up run to find tht our car had been 'visited'. Luckily there was nothing of value for them to take. Nonetheless, I thought I'd add to the "theft from car" posts to warn y'all to be extra vigilant.

Ours was broken into recently as well, St Ann's Road... so a busy road, and they still went for it. Usual thing, iPhone cable and first aid kit gone - and just tissues/choc wrappers then strewn around as they searched for anything else. Also, re how they're getting in - there was no damage to the car, and we have an alarm. A friend also has the same car as us and within a week he posted about the same thing, and we think it's possible they're doing that thing where they can 'bounce a signal' from your keys to the car to get in somehow...

I did wonder about signal-bouncing. I seem to remember reading something not so long ago about not keeping your keys near the front door, as many of us do, to avoid just this sort of situation.

Keeping keys in the humble biscuit tin (being an elementary Faraday cage) is worth a go too.

Had both our cars gone through recently on the ladder too. Both were locked.

In possibly not unrelated news, I was walking up Hewitt Road at about 6:15 on Wednesday and on both sides at the passage there 5 or 6 people standing or sitting who were quite clearly 'waiting for the man'.  Judging by the condition most of them looked in I'd say this crack or heroin.
