Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I have an open meeting with the area managers of Veolia tomorrow to discuss how street cleaning, refuse collection and clearance of fly tipping is being handled and also to talk about some problem areas that refuse to lie down like fly tipping by bins etc.

This takes place at 9.15 tomorrow (NEW TIME) and three Harringay councillors have also agreed to come on the walkabout. If anyone is around and wants to join in, please meet at the Umfreville entrance to Harringay Passage.

If you wish me to pass on any observations, point out any problem areas, raise any issues with them, please let me know below and I will do my best to bring your points to their attention.

(Sorry about the short notice- I've been away and am just catching up now)

Another echo here:

the pavement weeds are now a bit jungle-like, but have only patchily been tackled by individuals.

the same persistent problem of dumping on the North side of Roseberry Gardens, just by the alley and the 'no dumping' sign.

Yes, pavement weeds in the passage have not been sprayed and I'm sure sorting out the ensuing problem will be far costlier than a couple of guys with weed-killer for half a day.
Please note that the time of the meeting has been brought forward to 9.15 if you were thinking of joining us.
Thanks Liz - On behalf of the park users at Bruce Castle Park.  We are not happy that Veolia are using the park as a depot - but worse still the manager is parking his private car on the grass and driving his vehicle across the grass leaving tyre marks and petrol fumes. (He should park outside the park and walk in!)  The motorised sweepers are driving through the park too - there is an access road and these vehicles should be made to use this road and prohibited in all other parts of the park.  No respect is being shown for the park users what so ever,  this is a recreational area and the increased amount of traffic is not acceptable!
I bet the Veolia managers would be impressed if you had photos.

Yes, I agree with John. Photos of this should be snapped and sent to the company and to Nilgun Canver.

I'm pretty sure that when they leased the depots, Veolia staff weren't given access all areas in cars. Kick up a visual stink.

Can I suggest, Pam that, if you haven't already done so, you copy your comment directly to the ward councillors for White Hart Lane and Bruce Grove wards. And also to Cllr Nilgun Canver the "cabinet" councillor with Parks in her remit.

Although three of them are - I think - members of HoL, they may not have spotted this particular thread. A quick cut 'n' paste will do the trick.

As you write on behalf of park users, I assume you're a member of the Friends Group for Bruce Castle Park. I've not been able to quickly find an email address for this group. It would be helpful if you could post this for any HoL members who use this park and want to make contact.

Ha!
Thanks Adam, I'm going to bring up the schedule of sweeping too. Still seems pretty hit and miss whether the Passage is getting the 3 sweeps a week it needs and on the right days. They need to understand this is a major thoroughfare for local school kids, 2x a day, 5 days a week and must be kept spotless!
...and dogless?
