An impromptu procession on Green Lanes of Kurdish women

We were treated to the unexpected sight of a procession of Kurdish women walking down Green Lanes drumming on Saturday night.

 

I'm guessing they were from the Kurdish Women's Festival taking place at the Kurdish Centre in The Gardens this weekend and looking at the programme they were probably part of the Daf Percussion Performance by a group of women, although I'm happy to be corrected if I've got that wrong.

I took a few seconds of wobbly iphone footage for posterity, (greatly hindered by small boy wanting pizza).

Very nice Liz but I was trying to get to Manor House at this time and this did delay buses, traffic in general, etc so although impromptu all well and good, not on a busy main road, please!

But they were on the pavement? At least when I saw them.

There were some on the road- it wasn't for long but dont take long for things to get backjammed round here! Ok, I should chill out. It's summer and it was lively and colourful.
