Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi, anyone got any advice as to how to change spot lights (currently halogens) in a Smeg extractor fan unit for LEDs? Had a look online and could not really find much guidance. Is it possible, and if so, are there LEDs that can do the job given the heat they will face?

Any thoughts welcome.

Bit confused here, are you saying you need to remove the transformer before you can access the bulb? If not then I would take the bulb to the 'trade' counter at the back of Medlock - I have dealt with them on a number of occasions, they are helpful and knowledgeable. A 12v LED replacement should not be a problem and if necessary they will order them for you.

I'm only jealous, I always wanted a Smeg.

I inherited it (it came with the house 12 years ago), so you might actually see this as an upper class problem (inheriting furniture as opposed to buying it like the lower orders and all that)

This Guardian article looks pretty comprehensive in answering most questions. We've been recommended by our plumber that (as we've just moved house and are renovating top to bottom) we go for LED throughout the house - he said it was the best thing he's done.

I've been in a house where they had changed all the lighting to LED - all it did was give off a horrible harsh, cold light with no warmth. My opinion obviously - I'm a warm lamp type of person, hate bright ceiling lights. We have 2 small LED lights in our bathroom, I dislike them a lot but will suffer it in the bathroom - no where else .

Check the Guardian article I linked to above - sounds like you/they may have gone for the wrong colour temperature.

hmm or I just don't like them.......

thanks for shedding light on the matter...

Thanks- just checked with someone. I think my only option is to go to Smeg themselves. Off I pop then.
