Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We went in search of the black cap.

We heard but didn't see him

although there was a glimpse of his missus.

We found tranquillity and newts by the pond.

A moment of "well if this isn't nice, I don't know what is."

We wandered down paths adorned with bluebells.

Under clear blue skies we saw the last of the blossom.

and took care not to tread on the primroses.

A final, peaceful moment of English magic beneath the shade of a pretty oak tree.

But they are The Wrong Sort of Bluebells.

They also have Japanese Knotweed *screams and runs away*

I've eaten it. With custard on.

I do like custard. It is true.

HarringayBirder captured some great shots of a black cap in Finsbury Park.

They tend to be far quieter than Long-Tailed Tits which tend to congregate in groups and twitter (not tweet) incessantly, meaning you would normally hear them before you see them. (They are also quite distinctive - small round birds with long tails - naturally - and coloured black, white, grey and pink...)

Blackcaps are also shyer but at this time of year the males will assume lofty perches to stake out their territories - which is also why they sing loudly with their crowns raised.

They also have Haringey knotweed, and the only place in the whole world to have this unique cross between Japanese knotweed and Russian vine. Thats pretty cool.

They have English and Spanish bluebells if thats what you are talking about.

Hi guys, do you know if the Fields are open at any time over the Easter weekend?

Thanks

I don't think so. They are open 26th April for their normal monthly Friends of Railway fields events and May 11th for National Childrens Day activities;

I would love to help you look. Is RF open any time over Easter?...

Not sure. Nick and Lizzy might know.
