Old story. The BBC realised that the news broadcasts from Radio Caroline were word-for-word rip offs from the Home Service news. So they inserted a fake item into the BBC bulletin - " A large hole has opened up in the middle of Oxford Circus. The cause is not yet known but the police are looking into it "

Controller BBC News chuckled as he heard Caroline repeat it and called for another biscuit to go with his tea

I like the rather louche looking chap with his hands in the pockets of his overcoat and the gentleman standing next to him who seems to be amusing himself by sticking a pipe up his nose. Peter, this picture is ripe for the HoL Christmas caption competition.
