..........but it seems to me to be becoming increasingly Haringey Gimme. I don't see anything wrong with people fishing for things they need in the hope that something's going spare, but the requests seem to be getting more expansive and more picky. Witness this one today:
WANTED: Please help! Need many household items ASAP.
Sun Jul 6, 2008 1:54 am (PDT)
Hello
We have just bought our new home, and have nothing in it as yet, as
starting afresh, we would so apreciate the following items and can collect.
Kitchen: Kettle, Toaster, FRIGDE/ freezer, microwave, utensils, plates
etc, pots and pans, WASHING MACHINE, hoover. The kitchen has stainless
steel units, so matching stuff would be fab!
Sitting Room:large sofa, TV, DVD, rugs, curtains or clean nets, etc.
Bedrooms: Double and single bed, duvets/pillows, wardrobe, lamps,
bedside tables, chest of drawers (pine pref),
Bathroom:Towels bath mats etc.
And anything I might have missed.
We would so appreciate any help given to us by freecyclers, this is our first home together :)
This is not atypical. Maybe it's my age, but the tone, the extensiveness of the list and the slight fussiness about specification wind me up. Am I just becoming a Meldrew?
