Who Is The Rudest Person in Harringay?
For no apparent reason, I invite suggestions for the rudest person providing any sort of customer service in Harringay. My off-the-cuff nominations are as follows:
1. The woman in the parking permits office. Not sure what she looks like but apparently there's one who everyone's terrified of. My wife comes back from there emotionally scarred all because she didn't have the right documents and got barked at.
2. The girl at Park Road swimming pool who's more interested in doing her nails and playing Nintendo DS than serving you. Stop interrupting her leisure time.
3. Two Wheels Good - all of them. 'Nuff said.
4. Not sure if he's still there but there used to be a bloke who worked in the ticket office at Harringay station whose inability to be anything other than surly, curt and sullen was actually a great source of amusement to us. Cue over-enthusiastic "Gooooood Morrrrrnnninggg" every morning, coupled with a beaming "Nice to see you again". Cue grunt in return.
Anyone else?

It's "ma'am". actually (no not HRH!). Well, both my local Indian neswagent, which I have been a regular at for twenty years, and my nearest Turkish corner shop are hard work: if you make an effort to be friendly and polite, they will do it back, but you never seem to build up a relationship and have to do it first every time. The newsagent also P**s me off as they have the lads mags directly opposite the sweets counter, right at little boy head-height: they say this is dictated by the wholesaler, but other shops don't do that. I do sometimes walk to the next one, where they are much nicer, but I'm a bit lazy, and also I feel strange going to another Turksih shop and walking back past the nearest one with my vegetables - actually some of the people in there have warmed up now, but much more with my son than with me. For the longest time I felt as though I didn't exist for them.
There - got it off my chest!
Sainsbury's staff are getting nicer and nicer, but I suspect it's because of some training programme - listen to the announcements next time you're in there "Think NCM!" What does that signify?

Maddy, that's so funny how you feel guilty about not shopping in your usual shop - I know exactly what you mean, I do that too. I bet they don't notice though.. :D

Just a bit of harmless fun Maddy no more. And worth it for the laugh I had at Wightman Paul's response - how could I have forgotten? The people mentioned in my original post are well beyond caring what anyone else thinks about them - that's what makes them so fantastically rude (and amusing).
