This is an open invitation to come along and participate in Haringey's first Community Assembly.
Our Assembly will be addressing this vital question…
The climate crisis, pollution and the collapse of nature will affect us all. How might we respond better to this in order to build a sustainable and thriving future for us all in Haringey?
HCAN (Haringey Community Action Network) together with Extinction Rebellion Haringey are inviting you to take part. This is a free event and we would encourage you to extend the invitation to as many people as you can! There will also be a free lunch and an activitiy area for children.

Please join us and be part of developing a truly democratic process. We will aim to produce practical, constructive ideas, conclusions and action points that accurately represent local feelings and experience.
We believe it is vital to represent everyone in our borough, from individuals, to groups, organisations and local Councillors. This Community Assembly will involve participants in an active and structured way. People will listen to each other and be listened to.
Our ideas and conclusions will be shared with our community, politicians and the press, with the aim of being a part of future solutions.
Before our deliberation we will be hearing short talks from a Climate expert, a member of the Council's Carbon Team, a GP, and from local campaigners.
We have scheduled our Community Assembly to coincide with the Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai. Unlike the big industry lobbyists, we can't be there and we don't have a voice. Poll after poll show that the public wants our Government to stop backsliding and to take steps to protect us and our planet. All evidence suggests that this COP will fail to do that.
So rather than us all being helpless observers of ‘Bad COP’, come and join our ‘Good COP’ Community Assembly!

This will be great. Looking forward to it. There's so much that we can do differently, and that we can ask the Council to do differently, that will leave us a lot better prepared for what's coming down the road than we are now.

Yeah - It should be inspiring and energising. I'm looking forward to hearing the different ideas and points of view from everyone there! Lots to talk about and plenty that needs changing up! :)
