DESCRIPTION:This is an open invitation to come along and participate i
 n Haringey's first Community Assembly.  Our Assembly will be addressin
 g  this vital question…\r\n\r\nThe climate crisis, pollution and th
 e collapse of nature will affect us all. How might we respond better t
 o this in order to build a sustainable and thriving future for us all 
 in Haringey?\r\n\r\nHCAN (Haringey Community Action Network) together 
 with Extinction Rebellion Haringey are inviting you to take part. This
  is a free event and we would encourage you to extend the invitation t
 o as many people as you can! There will also be a free lunch and an ac

 democratic process. We will aim to produce practical, constructive ide
 as, conclusions and action points that accurately represent local feel
 ings and experience.\r\n \r\nWe believe it is vital to represent ever
 yone in our borough, from individuals, to groups, organisations and lo
 cal Councillors. This Community Assembly will involve participants in 
 an active and structured way. People will listen to each other and be 
 listened to.\r\n\r\nOur ideas and conclusions will be shared with our 
 community, politicians and the press, with the aim of being a part of 
 future solutions.    Before our deliberation we will be hearing short 
 talks from a Climate expert, a member of the Council's Carbon Team, a 
 GP, and from local campaigners. \r\n\r\nWe have scheduled our Communi
 ty Assembly to coincide with the Conference of the Parties (COP28) in 
 Dubai. Unlike the big industry lobbyists, we can't be there and we don
 't have a voice. Poll after poll show that the public wants our Govern
 ment to stop backsliding and to take steps to protect us and our plane
 t. All evidence suggests that this COP will fail to do that.\r\n\r\nSo
  rather than us all being helpless observers of ‘Bad COP’, come an
 d join our ‘Good COP’ Community Assembly!\r\n\r\nWe look forward t
