Even I would give a lot for the desk and the dining table is beautiful.
The oval mirror is not to my taste but it looks French Napoleonic style.
Suggest you get a proper antiques dealer in for an appraisal.
And get coasters under the mugs asap :-)
Just googled "Georgian Overmantel" and a picture of this identical one came up straight away. "A Georgian overmantle mirror with three part flanked pilasters, Corinthian columns, the composite relief depicting Hercules being drawn in his chariot by six lions (overpainted)
Thats spooky, it is exactly the same.
Justin I would first get on line and find some well known auction houses and send them the photos, they will let you know if they are something that they will deal with and will advise further.
It's hard when you need to dispose of well-loved furniture because no-one has house-room/not to modern taste, and the display cabinet is lovely! Agree with others above.
Thanks for all this guys, I did wonder what (if any) response I would get, but I am genuinely amazed- especially at the "Georgian Overmantel" spot! I did not even know what it is.
Antoinette, I think you are right, it has been overpainted, and there is some cracking in it, but it is still a great piece.
Lets see what the valuers say.
