That toilet block at Turnpike Lane is still used frequently as a toilet. Just that people use the exterior rather than the interior now ...

Hi Andrew. Are passers-by using the outside wall to urinate? Or worse? Have you witnessed this uourself? Have you contacted / emailed your own ward councillors? Who are they? Did you tell them the dates and other details? under your real name of course. How quickly did they reply to you? Or at least acknowledge your email / letter? All or just one Councillor?

Oh yes, most days.

I've mentioned it to ward councillors in the past, namely Seema, but I'm sure they are aware anyway as it's pretty obvious.

Long enough ago that I can't remember what the response was, I should probably email on it again.

SEEMA Chandwani is currently the people's representative for West Green Ward and a Member of the Borough's highest decision-making organ, the council Cabinet.

Verbal chat from Councillors and Council employees cannot always be relied upon.

Writing as a former Oppo Haringey Councillor, I endorse putting communications with this council, as far as possible in writing.

The council is a creature of laws and regulations. And never put anything in writing that you would not be happy to have read out in open Court. One day it will!

THANKS Andrew.

We get only one chance every four years to change local councillors. If Seema has replied helpfully to you in the past then consider giving her a vote this May.
Other Councillors who don't respond to emails, calls etc, shouldn't be too astonished if they lose residents' votes.

I've found Seema to be a very responsive and helpful councillor and will vote for her again.

It's less of an issue during winter, I will probably email again as the weather warms up and the issue becomes more noticeable again.

I’ve always thought it was TfL managed due it it’s location. I have a RADAR key that should give me access. It doesn’t.

Yes it's TfL's. There are City Hall Mayor's Question Time enquiries as to when it will reopen after repairs - in 2005 and 2007!!

I'd guess TfL control access so that the bus drivers (only) have access to it as 'physical needs breaks' must be provided to them, which a repeatedly vandalised facility won't.

It’s on a TfL map as a public loo that is wheelchair accessible and has changing facilities!  https://content.tfl.gov.uk/toilets-map.pdf

I think staff have loos inside the building next to the bus station. I’ve seen them wandering down from somewhere above with mugs of tea.

From all of my comments you may gather I’m public loo obsessed, something that became a bit of an obsession after having pelvic radiotherapy a few years ago.

I also gather from this discussion that both TfL's and Haringey's maps/lists are 'tick box' maximalisation exercises regardless of whether the facilities are actually available, whether month on month or year on year.

The report is linked.  You need to scroll to page 549.

What is disappointing in the action plan is there is nothing to address Green Lanes.  A major shopping hub, loads of restaurants, bars and two pubs but not a public loo to be seen.

On Haringey's website there is a link:

https://haringey.gov.uk/streets-roads-travel/travel/map-public-toilets

When I click on it (as with loads of other Haringey website links recently) I get

"Forbidden  You don't have permission to access this resource".

For goodness' sake.
