Despite the excessive heat, we are fortunate to have an increasing supply of garden produce. The broad beans may be over but the climbing French beans are just starting. Also the first courgettes have appeared and I have today thinned out a row of beetroot to make room for the remainder to grow larger.
This year, pigeons have left most of our plums alone and more of these are ripening every day:
