Hello to Haringay community members.... I hope everyone had a good week?
I am looking to interact with some comrades of the community in the hope of embarking on a social project, which will bring more fantastic work to the area. I have lived in Turnpike Lane for four years and after what was a short burst of pieces by the station but it would be great to expand this. I have for the past few years been interacting with artists helping to organise wall space in East London, while I worked for an art gallery. I would love to try and organise some spaces here in Haringay and feel this would be a good start in reaching out to the community.
I have watched street art spread from East London and find large new areas in places like Penge, Camden and Dulwich. In these projects the communities have been heavily involved with helping to supply wall spaces or by supplying unwanted house paint. If anyone knows of any walls that are in need of some TLC or if anyone would like to help out then please let me know. I regularly am asked by great artists for spaces and it would be great if I could organise some paintings in the area I live.
Thanks,
Ryan

Please, please do this. Don't listen to the Meldrews. Can we continue with a theme? I loved the "endagered British birds" theme from a few years ago done by the Turnpike Lane Art Group.
Endangered British amphibians perhaps?
I wish I could volunteer some of the more suitable walls in the passage but they're not mine and I think the razor wire on the best walls would detract from the art.
And you wouldn't be able to stand back far enough to appreciate the artwork
As a theme - how about " endangered British Meldrews " ?
Thirded! (if there is such a thing) - Some of the stuff that has appeared has been wonderful beyond words
Hey EMC2,
Thanks for the heads up, I will go and speak to someone today and see what we can do..
Hi Ryan,
I live on roseberry gardens and i think this is fantastic, there are so many walls at the end of ladder and gardens roads that need some character adding to them.
If you are able to provide art that reflects the cultural heritage of the area im sure you will be welcomed.
I would love to help in any way i can.
Ben
Hi Ryan, If you happen to know Elmo, can you ask him to come back and remove all his tags from the Wards Corner building please. I'm working with Veoila to get it cleaned off, but TfL who own the building and have to look after it, are proving a bit slow to come back to us. The cost will of course go onto our Council Tax.
Hello Pamish,
I unfortunately do not know Elmo, I do not even think however I would be extremely interested in talking to you more about your relationship with Veolia. Would you be available for answering some questions if I forwarded them to you? I notice that the company uses Street Art to promote themselves and the services that they provide, which I find interesting. I would be extremely appreciative if you would be up for answering a few questions.
Thanks
Ask away, put questions on here, but my dealings with Veolia are minimal and just about this (apart from the usual dumped rubbish correspondence). I asked them to help with getting this cleaned, as they promise to remove public graffiti within one day if it's racist or offensive, and three days if not. (They realise that graffiti breeds graffiti so speed is essential.) They did visit this site and found that the paint is on the inside of the windows so they can't act, but have been corresponding (three ways) with me and TfL ever since to arrange for them to sort it out. I keep nudging it every couple of weeks, if nothing happens soon I will escalate the action.
Has anyone suggested that they cover the outside with black paint.....in the same way that they painted over the anti-Erdogan graffiti under the Green Lanes bridge...
