I came home earlier to find three people sitting on my front doorstep drinking beer. This is the third such incident this year - a couple of weeks ago it was a woman on her own, possibly the same person who I also found asleep on my front path wrapped in blankets a month or so ago.
At that time I called the police and later had a conversation with Glyn Kelly about it - I would like to talk to him again as it seems to be becoming a bit of a problem and I'm not quite sure what to do. I didn't call the police today as the drinkers left pretty quickly, but they seem to have got into the habit of using my front garden as a public park. I live alone and it's quite intimidating.
Can I contact Glyn directly through this site, or do I have to make an official report to the police?

Maddy I`ve just sent you a connection request
They might be in your garden because the police have cleared them from the high street and parks.
One reason they might go in your garden is to find somewhere they can drink and sleep. I would not be surprised if they had not been thrown out of a local hostel for drinking.
They are most likely homeless alcoholics who cannot stop drinking. How should police and other community services deal with that problem? Just move the problem somewhere else?
I can see if you are on your own, it must be difficult and hope it is resolved.
it sounds like youre tempted to suggest that maddy is being somehow nimbyish. perhpas youre not but at any rate it was good to read your empathetic closing note and hopeful conclusion.
