Cat trackers/gps - Anyone got any experience?

We had something called the Loc8tor which wasn't GPS. With any of these products make sure you get something that won't fall off when they go under hedges. I wish I'd invested in something a bit better as I never felt that comfortable trusting it so spent most my time discreetly following my cat trying to work out his most common hiding places whilst waving what looked like a TV remote around in the air

Thanks Michael. I saw those. It's amazing someone's not come up with a better product so far. They all look like you have to strap a big brick the poor cat. My search continues for something a bit more discreet!

I'm interested, mainly to find out where ours goes (sleeping on next door's shed roof mainly, from my observations). I haven't found anything suitable as yet. The biggest problem is the antenna size, as this then restricts the device size.

I haven't used trackers, but there are some tracker recommendations listed here

I've heard people mention Tractive which you can watch in real time and often people upgrade to Pod Tracker.

Or you can use something like G-Paws which is not real time - I think you download the map from the device when the cat gets home so you can see where he hangs out.

Apparently the Pod2 is meant to be the market leading smart tracker at the moment, I've actually used the Tabcat tracker which is a nice simple radio frequency tracker which does a great job and is a lot cheaper than the smart trackers - good article here on them.

Sadly that's not possible as the microchips are a passive device. You need an active device to record and transmit information.

When the chip is scanned an electrical charge is induced via the coil wrapped around it this then enables the chip to be read.
