I do hope lots of people will stand up against a really bad plan. The Council want to demolish at least 19 perfectly good Victorian houses in Caxton Rd and Mayes Rd apparently to make a 'through pedestrian route' towards Ally Pally with views to delight the shoppers. A Caxton Road resident has prepared a very well thought out document with four other possible places this route could go, going through car parks/ tacky commercial properties and empty land, without demolishing the homes. Rumour has it the real reason for this attack on property rights is that they want high density development close to stations and think if they don't arrange it now, a developer might buy out the owners and build in a piecemeal messy way to achieve residential/office towers. But the Council have not planned to interfere with several other Victorian residential streets even closer to Wood Green station, so that argument would hold no logic.

Other residents in social housing over the Mall are also threatened with loss of their homes. The plans to pull down the Mall, the library building and the commercial spaces in the library precinct are so wasteful given these building are relatively recent, and would mean dirt, congestion, disruption and loss of business for years.

If we allow this plan to go unchallenged, it will set a really bad precedent for CPOs almost anywhere that some developer thinks could be a more profitable use of the land. We should say people before profit!

Doesn't make it right. Please help at https://mrdavekingett.wixsite.com/saveourhomes

Thank you Anne. My house is one of 31 beautiful Victorian houses, home to between 80-100 households, threatened with destruction.

Hopefully lots of people will show up at the Council's 'consultation workshop' about Wood Green 'regeneration' at 10.30 this Weds. in Wood Green library.
