Although I'm sure Uber is partly to blame, my understanding is that Golden Cars ars was sold and new management took over. and from then on the service went down massively.

It's true they became less reliable - had to call at 6 am once to enquire where my booked airport transfer was, and they arranged for another cab company to come and rescue me.

I always found them to be very reliable (although I have not used them for a while). Given I will need a very important taxi ride next week can I open the floor to suggestions of local mini cab companies that won't let you down at 6am in the morning?

I remember a thread saying Harringay Cars were the pits. I had the worst ever airport transfer from the guys up at Manor House... Has anyone got any recommendations?

I have an issue with Capital cars. Their controller would say "It's on it's way" when in fact there wasn't any cars available. This often led to late or missed appointments. One of their drivers confirmed this when she'd accepted my fare 20 minutes after I'd been told it was on it's way. Hopefully they may have sacked that fellow as I know the drivers were getting fed up with being at the forefront of the complaints from the passengers who truly believed that the cab was on it's way.

My recent experiences with Harringay Cars have mostly been OK, but I use them quite often so maybe I benefit as a regular; the only time I used the Manor House people they were terrible. Not local, but I also use Fleet Cars, based between Archway and Tufnell Park (7485 7777), who have also been reliable; as far as I know they'll pick up from anywhere if you ring them, but of course their office isn't convenient if you want to go in and book in person.

My parents so relied on golden cars if I couldn't take my dad to his hospital appointment they were always reliable and very respectful but since the take over my parents really noticed a difference. I can usually get him there and pick him up but am also wondering if anyone has used another firm around that would do as good a job if need be. ? Thanks

i used them for almost 20 years, and very good although didnt speak English. then 1year ago they didnt turn up, despite pre arranging it and multiple calls, Missed getting into the theatre as a result- £60 down the drain. Never compensated, never used them again

I find harringay cars by the salisbury very efficient with the added bonus they speak English which can be very helpful. When relying on getting planes etc,in the middle of the night, they need to be reliable

Also when I had to take 1 of my cats to the emergency vet one evening, they offered to wait for me, even though it ended up being about 30mins and didnt charge extra, def have my vote
