Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Were you on a 41 bus on Wednesday 11th January at around 4:30pm?

My Mum, aged 87, had a fall on a 41 bus.  She fell on the platform while the bus was at the stop adjacent to Turnpike Lane and Wood Green High Road.  She was travelling towards Archway, so the bus travelled up Turnpike Lane to Wightman Road where my Mum got off.  A very kind man picked her up from the bus platform.  An amazingly kind woman, interrupted her journey to Archway and insisted on getting off with my Mum to walk her home.

My Mum needed three operations and the bus company are denying knowledge.  This is not about a financial claim!  It is about the correct procedures being followed by Arriva staff.  I would not want this to happen to another bus user (WARNING: graphic photo attached - not for the feint hearted!!).

Please message me if you remember the incident.

Lydia I am so sorry this has happened to your poor mum that is horrific . I really hope you get something done but also I really hope your mum makes a full recovery ! I love to bake and if your mum likes cakes I would dearly like to make her a Victoria sponge or a nice lemon drizzle cake hoping that in some way this might help as that's all I can offer I'm afraid. If you think she would like that let me know and I will get on it .

My Mum is a strong lady Tina - I think her generation are.  She is working hard at regaining her mobility with the support of a walking frame - which she hates as she says they are used by "old people"!  Your offer to make her a cake is an incredibly thoughtful gesture.  I will pass on your message to her.

My parents are the same. My dad had a triple heart bypas and a valve replaced aged 83 and after 2 days he was refusing to use an commode and walking to the toilet himself they were all amazed they are such amazing troupers and good luck to them . It's such a horrible thing for her to go through . I also do very good scones . If she would like any form of cake please let me know and I will get baking. Wish you all well
I'm so shocked the driver didn't stop the bus. It must have been so obvious that your mother was seriously injured. I really hope some of her fellow travellers see this and come forward. Is there anywhere else we could share it that might broaden who sees it to beyond Harringay? I'm happy to share on Facebook but let me know if you are ok with that.

Best wishes to your mother, I hope she is on the mend, though I appreciate getting over something like this must take its time.

Thank you for your good wishes - I will pass on to my Mum.  Your idea about sharing on Facebook is a great suggestion.  Would you please share on my behalf and update me if anything comes of your post?  Thank you.

Lydia

What about making up some A4 posters with your original post's text on it (either with or without the photo)  and either laminate or put in those clear plastic sleeves, and stick up at the 2 bus stops both at Ducketts Common and Wightman Road ?

Yes, this is an excellent idea that I hadn't thought of.  I need to make the time to do this.  Thank you.
