Hi,
I hope someone can help. I can't see any recent discussions on this topic. I am looking at local nurseries for my daughter who will need to go at 11 months old in October.
The same nursery names are coming up. Does anyone have any recent experience with them? Especially Little Jewels, Orange and Triangle? Though I'd be happy to hear about any others.
I'd be interested in Woodlands but as they only do one intake a year in September and my little one was born in November she would only be able to attend when she's nearly 2 (if she were to get in)
Any information would be very welcome
Thanks!
Jane
Just to add - what I particularly like about Little Jewels is all the children are in together. No separate baby room which I think is the set up at both Orange and Woodlands. I really like that the babies are in with the older children, they all find it stimulating and the older ones learn a real sense of responsibility and care. You can't go wrong with them. When my son joined them he was one of 3 boys all within a week of each other age-wise. And they had three little girls aged 4/5 who all "adopted" a baby each. It was just impossibly adorable.
My 3 & a half year old has been at Orange since 9 months, so has been through each of the rooms (baby, walkers, toddlers & pre-school). All the children have plenty of occasions where the different age groups mingle though. I've been really happy with Orange. The facilities & staff are great & without doubt being there has been a huge benefit for my child developmentally. The location to turnpike lane tube station is also really handy for commuting. Would definitely recommend.
My daughter is 2.5 and is very happy at Orange. I have three children but this has been my first experience with a day nursery and I am very happy. The staff are lovely ( as are the children and parents !). They spend lots of time outside : in the garden and in the park. It has been great developmentally and socially for my daughter, but the most important thing is that she is really happy there.
Thanks for that. I misunderstood what pot of money you were referring to. So what we're really talking about is the removal of subsidies. The same is happening all over. I had the same come through in relation to the Holiday Play Scheme my son has been attending in Islington.
Hi there, my son is 2 and has been at Eagle since just before he was 1. He is really happy there. It's not the flashiest of buildings, but frankly I'm not sure any of the kids care about that. Everyone who works there seems to really enjoy their job, and they're all really caring towards the children. There is a separate baby room for the under 2s, but they spend a lot of time doing free-flow with the older children, so get a mix of both quieter and noisier time. They also spend loads of time outside in the warmer months.
Hi Jane,
Our little boy is in the African Caribbean Day Care, just off Hornsey Park Road, and it's lovely - relaxed and a real family atmosphere. I did a long review of it a few months back, let me see if I can find the link. Despite the name, it's not only for kids who are African-Caribbean, they welcome everyone.

That link looks strange when I copy it in - is it working?
