Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hey,

I am on Fairfax road and our rubbish has not been collected for weeks. We have had to pile bags next to the bin now as the only alternative is having rotting rubbish in our house. My housemate called the council and they said they haven't picked it up because they will only pick up what is in the bin - firstly, they haven't even emptied the bin and secondly, the only reason there are bags on the floor is because we have nowhere else to put them!! They promised to come pick it up within 48 hours but that was almost a week ago.

I have since emailed Veolia (who Haringey council say are responsible for the refuse collection) but have had no response (although I only emailed them today).

Any advice/ideas? It makes our house look trashy and is unhygienic and unfair on our neighbours!

Thanks.

If Veolia aren't responding effectively, which is what is sounds like from your post, get your councillors on the case - http://www.minutes.haringey.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx?XXR=0&AC=W... I'd start with Zena.

Thanks for the suggestion Hugh! Am going to do this now.

Call Veolia directly. They missed our bin a few times and i just called them the next day and they always came the following day to pick it up. As this had happened a few times i lodged a formal complaint and a Veolia person even rocked up at the house to check whether it had been collected. Don't go via the council go straight to Veolia and explain the situation.

I have contacted Veolia directly and nothing has happened. They are useless.
