Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

At least in Fairfax Road - any idea why, or how extensive this is?  Also, I have had problems with the Tivo box - anyone else?

Hi all,

Given the UK's support for the right to broadband, we should voice our concerns to the council to speed up their request to get the work done. Can anyone provide an email address to a relevant council member or group?

I've spent way too much money trying to keep my home internet connected already. Bought a 4G hotspot, a 4G data plan, and now a new 4G router. I've spent well over £100. My partner and I have had to change our work plans numerous times now as it's no longer viable to work from home.

Please let me know who to contact, and I suggest we all send them a note regarding how much impact such a seemingly minor thing is having.

Local councillors on web site (! ) maybe the council app and Twitter!

Does anyone know if we get compensation/ a reduced bill? Is this automatic or must we apply etc?

My husband called them last night and argued with them and got the bill reduced but after long arguments as they were only saying they don't give any compensations. Ughhh!! We are with them since we moved from South London and bought the house in 2010, they been rubbish on snd off but this time is the worst. Hubby got told different than others said above, they said they don't get any sattelite signal, nothing about the burnt cable and digging up the road. I have my fingers crossed we get it back tomorrow but telling the truth I kinda lost the hope.

Yes, because Haringey council do not reckon this is a priority. What about all those people that need to work from home sending emails etc. what are we paying council tax for? If we stop paying that, then the council might pay attention.

Given the volume of complaints over the years on HOL about outages on Virgin, I'm surprised anyone would even consider signing up with them

Here are the 3 councillors that are representatives of Fairfax Road (N8 0NJ).

gina.adamou@haringey.gov.uk; zena.brabazon@haringey.gov.uk; emine.ibrahim@haringey.gov.uk

I have sent them an email and I encourage everyone affected to do the same.

I was told that i would get a refund for each day the service is down. There no extra compensation just a refund for what you have paid for for the day its down.

I've emailed the councillors

I think its going to take ages to get this sorted.

I spoke last night to a chap from Virgin Media and he said he would look into this problem then phone me back today,  during last night's conversation he told me that there are currently 74 homes in the Fairfax/Wightman area without broadband. On to today: he has just phoned me and said that the service may well be out for weeks. There is a problem with the cables under the tarmac in Wightman Road and the Council are refusing to give urgent permission for the placing of three-way traffic lights and without these, lights in place, they are unable to repair the fault................ they need to dig up the road.

The Council has told VM that getting this problem fixed is not a priority, try telling that to the people that work from home and are losing money.

Omg.. that is appaling! For weeks? I have an online business, how the.. I'm gonna handle this? Very very annoyed to say the least...

Big sympathy. What about no contract broadband for a month? www.directsavetelecom.co.uk/no-contract.php

I think that's possible with most phones made over the past few years, but wouldn't it be pretty costly?
