After careful choosing as I'm very fussy, we used Barnet Window Company and they were excellent, plus a local family business with very high standards of service and fitting. Their sash windows are great. Ask for Tommy Rose to come and visit.

That's great. Thank you Justine, I'll check them out.

I used them too, for a back door. They were fantastic!

Great. I'll definitely look them up. Thanks Katie

We used Chase Windows and they are very good

Thanks Alice
For another way forward to consider, and further advice on Victorian sashes, if necessary replacing them try

John overhauled my old draughty rattling sash windows by replacing the pulley wheels, cords, rebalancing, replacing missing locks and installed a brush pile system with new beading to draughtproof. Windows have stopped rattling, glide open and shut without draughts, quieter. Excellent professional job from someone who loves what he does. The website www.sashrepairs.co.uk has an interesting well researched history under the info tab on sashes. Recommend both thoroughly.

It's a less expensive alternative, in keeping and last longer, keeps seasoned wood and old glass. Good luck.

Lynne
Thanks Lynne

We used North London Box Sash to replace some and renovate those with stained glass that we didn't want to lose. We had wood, though, don't know if they do uPVC. They (Mark) were great, highly recommended. www.northlondonboxsah.com or tel 020 3589 4163; 07775 444 759.

Thanks Meg, I'll give them a call
Thanks Caroline
I wanted new sash windows and, having been MIGHTILY p****d off with Anglian, came across praise for Crystal Windows on this site, who came today and put three windows in. Very quick workers and were done in 3.5 hours - Anglian took a day to put double fronted upstairs and three in a bay downstairs and a day, much later on, to do them properly...
So I'm joining the others on this site and recommending Crystal.
Enjoy! Bridget
