Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Sensitive subject, but today the bottom of Hampden Rd and Willoughby Rd is at a gridlock because of a funeral at the Methodist church on Hampden. The reason being is that people have parked on the double yellow lines on Willoughby, thereby cutting the traffic flow. I'm pretty sure that, irrespective of the event, it's illegal to park on double yellows. Does anyone know what the waivers are to parking for funerals?

SO selfish and irresponsible of them.

No they should not be parking on double yellow. When we have had funeral services at the Greek church we call haringey parking in advance who always allow free parking on the three roads surrounding the church for a few hours. They do state that parking only in the residents bays and not across people's drives or on yellow lines.l

I used to live next to a greek church, and both weddings and funerals were a nightmare, as well as the usual Sunday services and litter dropping..

Presumably the Greek church was there before you. Didn't you realise there would be funerals and weddings ?

Of course we did. But we didn't expect to be blocked in regularly, people parking illegally on double yellows and turn around points (it was a dead end) all the time, do you think that's acceptable regardless whether it was there before or not? Our downstairs neighbor had a baby and she often came home to find someone parked over her drive. Until you experience it yourself you really don't know how disruptive it can be.
There are no waivers where double yellow lines are concerned.

The yellow lines on Willoughby are single yellows, except at the corners.
