We always use Mini Kin in crouch end always very good
If it's a boy you can do worse than Messy Cuts on Green Lanes. They were great with my son when he was little. They work very fast so they don't get a chance to get wriggly or irritable. But do have a tendency to go really short unless you say otherwise. My recollection is that they are about half the price of mini kins, who are more boutiquey but worth it for a girl I would say.
Mini Kin were rude & disdainful to us once so lost our business. Ellie at Ellie's Studio on Hornsey High Rd is lovely with kids (not sure if she will just do a kid on their own or whether she just does kids of her regular customers). We've also had good kid haircuts from Cheriee on Green Lanes. The young woman with the long brown straight hair (she has a Turkish name I can never remember) does a good job, and is very quick, which is good for very small wriggly ones.
If you are prepared to pay Mini Kin prices, though, go to Mata Mata in Islington. Mine once had a hair cut there and now every time we go past he begs to have another.
Minikin is great for little ones who aren't keen on sitting still because they have a good set up with toys at each "station" for them to look at and play with, and they are entirely geared towards kids so very understanding. But I've been taking my two to Cherie'e on Green Lanes since my littlest was probably about 18 months to 2 years and the cutting is just as good (sometimes better) and they are all very patient with the kids too. And much cheaper.
Sorry, should have said I used to take them to Minikin before that.
