If anyone in the local area is missing a black and white cat I'm afraid there is a dead cat on the lawns in front of the block of flats at the top of Sydney Road (near the scaffolding and skips). There is no obvious sign of injury on the animal.

How sad. If possible, could someone in the area safeguard the deceased cat overnight and take the cat to a vet to be scanned for a microchip and also retain a close up photo of the cat so that the cat can be identified, if not chipped.
I'm so sorry, Judah but I did not get a photo as my phone does not have a camera on it. When I had posted initially on the sighting I then went to the theatre and did not pass the scene again until next morning when the body was no longer there, so I did not see Jane's suggestion at all until it was too late. I really hope you find your cat.
Christina
I checked with the council and they haven't collected a deceased cat in the N8 area. If the council collects a deceased cat, they scan the cat for a microchip. If someone took the cat to a vet, they would have scanned it for a microchip. Hopefully Judah it wasn't your cat.
Remember to call the microchip company, tell them he is missing and check that they have your correct contact details.
Flyers are useful, including roads with gardens backing on to your garden and also post details on here. (Maybe on seeing a photo of your cat, Christina will be able to confirm that it wasn't your cat).
You can also put details of a lost pet on Animal Search with close up photos, and it's free to do that.
Stokey Cats and Dogs help with lost and found pets. There are useful tips on their website on what to do if your pet is missing.
