Lion dance at Hanoi Pho Harringay last night Photo: Hugh
The new Hanoi Pho announced its arrival on Harringay's Green Lanes yesterday evening with a glittering opening.
As is traditional when opening any Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant a Lion dance started off the evening. The lion is invited in to chase away negative energies, scare away evil spirits and bring good luck and wealth.
After the lion made its way around the lavishly decorated restaurant, the eighty odd invited guests were treated to a range of Vietnamese snacks, including prawn summer rolls, spicy pork ribs, spicy chicken salad and Vietnamese spring rolls.
I have to say that the whole group at my table really enjoyed the food and we're all very much looking forward to going back and trying a full meal.
The new restaurant is owner Kim Tran's fourth business and she was clearly delighted to be opening her new restaurant here in Harringay. Kim and her team were delightful hosts and I look forward to seeing them again soon.

Looks terrific. I can't wait to try it out.
It is - same name, same owner. One of the guests told me last night that the issue they've had with 1 Grand Parade is that they couldn't get planning permission for a full kitchen. So they're very limited as to their cooking facilities.
Has anyone on here eaten at the new Hà Nội Pho yet that opened last week?
I plan to go for dinner tonight as I live nearby on Mattison Road.
I only wish I lived closer so the delicious smell of Vietnamese food would waft into my house!! .
I for one am glad to see them on Green Lanes (both shops) and I wish them a heartfelt welcome to the neighbourhood!!
I was chatting with a neighbour who lives opposite me yesterday and she was raving about it. I still haven't had the time to go and eat there - but I'm going to make time now!
I am pleased to report the food was great and the restaurant was busy last night!
We had prawn summer rolls and prawn and pork spring rolls as starters and 2 versions of the vermicelli noodles (Vietnamese street food) - seafood and grilled pork as mains. Service was both efficient and fast and the food was tasty.
A great addition to Harringay Green Lanes!!
