I appreciate your recommendation and thank you for getting over the initial cynical desire..
I'm always very grateful for advice learnt the hard way so I do thank you. I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you, we never can tell what's around the corner!
I agree with Charlotte about organising a date and a venue first. I've done links to Haringey's approved premises and their fees as an example.
Congratulations!
I guess it all depends on your budget. I'm inclined to agree with some of the other comments & try to save some cash for the long-term rather than spend on one day. The Town Hall in Bethnal Green is beautiful (no longer a town hall, now a great hotel), Mirror Mirror for a dress, invitations from an online printer & the Wedding Smashers were great DJs for us.
You'll need guests!
I'm a great wedding guest, got a good line in dad dancing and an impressive capacity for alcohol and food. I'm punctual and polite, and won't let you down.
Available to hire at a reasonable rate.
I love this response! Thanks for the chuckle, i'll let you know if I'm in need!
Congratulations!
I got my dress made by Dana Bolton (http://www.dressmakingdesign.co.uk/) who's based in Muswell Hill and specialises in vintage-style designs. She was lovely and, although not cheap, about the same price as something from a traditional bridal boutique that's just off the peg and then altered for fit.
Stationary-wise, we went for the cheap option, designing our own and getting them printed by http://www.stressfreeprint.co.uk/. If you known an artist who you can cajole into doing something for you, or have a nice photo, this is definitely somewhere you can save money...
Good luck and hope you have a wonderful time!
One of my best friends is a dress maker and does lots of bridal work. She is based in S.E. London but if that's not too much bother for you she is definitely worth a call especially if you are considering something slightly unusual.

P.S. there is a picture of my wife are our wedding in that gallery but I won't say which pic!
