I keep contacting them about the increase in homeless people, aswell as the road traffic issues affecting green lanes,
if we all do the saem it may out pressure on them to take action!
With respect, the local MPs - to be fair to them - have little say in either matter. The first belongs to the Met (Mayor Khan is their boss) and the other two issues are those of local elected councillors.
This morning I was walking my son up the passage to school when I encountered 3 individuals completely blocking my path as they skinned up on the floor. I'm afraid I couldn't help myself and asked them if they really considered it appropriate to be skinning up in broad daylight at 8.30am within yards of a primary school. I was less than polite. They were less than polite back. There would have been no point dialling 101, they would have been gone by the time anyone arrived.
Good on you that you voiced your opinion though.
Well I'm happy to report that I've not seen those individuals near the school since I sent them off with a flea in their ear, so job done as far as I'm concerned. For me this all relates back to Dr Jackson Katz's bystander theory which proposes that if one is witnessing unacceptable or criminal behaviour and being complacent, then one is subliminally giving the perpetrator the green light to continue his or her actions. Don't walk on by - say something.
I had a very unpleasant experience recently at the bus stop at Turnpike Lane towards Crouch End. A guy, quite drunk or full of something else, racially abused my children aged 4 and 5. We had done absolutely nothing to him and he was angry of the bus driver not taking him when he knocked on the closed bus door. Unfortunately he kept returning to the stop where we had to wait a full 20 mins for our bus. Bystanders chased him away, but the experience was quite unpleasant and never experienced before. He also insulted other people who critizised him and tried hitting on a young girl. I was on the brink of calling the police, but was under time pressure and had to catch the bus so didn't. But it was certainly a very unpleasant experience for me and the kids.
