For anyone who apposed the proposal for the Shelton Hotel to extend their premises, a meeting has been set for Monday 2nd Februry for people to air their concerns.
This is to take place at Council Chamber in Wood Green from 7pm
There is a report out today from the Planning Committee which is recommending they grant permission for this even though there has been a high number of residents opposing this application including the LCSP and local councilors.
It also seems that our MP supports the application.

Oh groo!
I'm not sure it's fair to say that Lammy supports the decision. It seems that the owner of the hotel wrote to him asking for his support. I imagine that he was almost obliged to act on the request in some way. His letter to the council seems to me to be the bare minimum he could have done and is non-committal.
There is a meeting at the Council tonight about this if people feel strongly. So far, no one from this site has said that they intend to go. I'm sure Ian from LCSP will be there.
I'm confused about this - if the decision is made, what is the meeting about? I can't go but hope some of those most directly affected by the decision would be able to make it.
I'm afraid my crutches keep me at home. It was pretty inevitable that this would be the result. Protests about extra vehicles coming onto/off Wightman or Burgoyne aren't going to cut much ice with Planning. Other arguments I and others made (about the sort of hangers-on this sort of development is likely to attract and their effect on the neighbourhood at late hours, etc) will only be recognised by Planning when they become a reality two or three years from now. One thing's fairly obvious: this permission is not going to lead to any real upgrading of the existing unlovely premises, or any improvement of the visual aspect of this unlovely corner of Wightman Road.
Just to let everyone know, if they were planning to go to the civic centre this evening that (according to Haringey Council's website), the Planning Committee has been canceled because of the weather!
