I've just been turned away from Cherie on Green Lanes for a leg wax because they don't wax pregnant women.
There is absolutely no health and safety reason for this, and when challenged the woman in charge simply said it was her decision.
I walked away feeling a bit humiliated but thought I'd let others know so they can avoid the same experience.

That's Chef's place. I imagine he'd be horrified to hear of your experience. My mate from school back in NZ has made a career out of studying this kind of thing (discrimination against pregnant women etc), google Professor Robbie Sutton.
I think you'll find it's for your own benefit - skin becomes much more sensitive during pregnancy so it's not advisable.... the hormones affect all sorts of things - you can't get your hair permed either....

Just Googling this reveals that this is not uncommon practice and it may even reflect well on the establishment which is concerned about adverse effects on their customers. Not really fair to make accusations under those circumstances I think.....
