Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just to let the people of Harringay know that I spotted a KINGFISHER on the new river a couple of days ago. I was amazed and delighted. Tried to get a photograph but he got scared and flew away. Also saw a little bird going into the wall in the bit of the New River between Allison Road and Hornsey Station. I don't know what it was, but it made me think that section of greenery should be made into a proper nature reserve; there's a lot going on down there!

Lucky you! Seeing a kingfisher is special.

There used to be a kingfisher at the Winchmore Hill end of the river some years ago. I hope your one thrives and its domain remains undisturbed.

Get those goggles on FPR & you could follow it in your biplane ☺

Few months back I was cycling North along the towpath on the River Lee, Tottenham Marshes, Stonebridge lock. One flew out of the hedging and then on in front of me for a hundred yards or so. Flashing incandescent blue. A stunning sight.

We live next to the river, and for several years, during the winter months when the branches are bare, we spot a flash of blue.  Have various blurred photos, but none that do justice to this beautiful bird.

I see it quite often on the bit of New River between Hornsey station and Wightman Road. It's really quick so only really see a flash of blue. Also see a couple of little egrets down there on occasion as well as the herons and cormorants.
