The Finsbury Park Sports Partnership is pleased to confirm that the long awaited refurbishment of the athletics track will commence on Monday 15th February 2016. The works are scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2016. The works include replacement of the synthetic surface to the running track and installation of a drainage system to the infield. The new LED floodlights have already been installed and a complete inventory of equipment will be purchased.
We have liaised with Haringey Council at all stages of this project, have held an open community evening to showcase the project and also met directly with the Friends of Finsbury Park to discuss the details.
This exciting news is the culmination of several years work by the voluntary trustees of the FPSP. Almost £1m of external funding has been secured to invest in the facilities. The FPSP is determined that the refurbished track will be of tremendous value to the many sporting communities in and around Finsbury Park. It is our long term intention to continue with the improvements and either refurbish or replace the existing building to open it up to the wider community and to improve the quality of the built environment.
I hope you share our joy and enthusiasm for this amazing achievement. The FPSP was recently recognised for its efforts by being awarded 'Project of the Year' at the Haringey Sports Awards.

Wow, that's great news. I was looking at the track and gym the other day and was wondering what's happening. Thank you for sharing the info.

Its terrific news for Finsbury Park and much effort has gone into this from FPSP members, so thank you David and others. My son trains with London Heathside, the athletics club there, and I have been so impressed at the dedication and expertise of the coaches there. Such a friendly, welcoming place. So hopefully this will be a big boost for the Clubs that run from the track and we will see more people coming along.
