Who would have thought 'healthy' fried chicken in Tottenham would be such a media sensation. ..http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/chicken-town-1

The surprising thing I find is that Chicken Town is not only closed on Mon all day, but Sun all day, too - which I find rather odd for a restaurant. Furthermore, if it really wants to establish itself as a restaurant providing meals for people who can afford about £15 incl a drink for a sit down meal - what's really the benefit for the local community (which the grant funding aims for I believe)?
The evening meals subsidise the £2 daytime meals for young people. I understand they don't open for lunch, just after school - otherwise they wouldn't be very socially responsible!

Also, it's somewhere great for adults to eat locally - I think that's a fantastic benefit to the local community!

Correction - they are open for lunch on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I have already asked, how many children from local schools are using it?

They have ordered a sign for outside apparently.

Clive, Thanks for letting people know about the Monday closure.

Plainly there are divergent and strong views about the Council's funding of this particular project and many many others at a time of the most brutal cuts to public services. And not everyone is happy that questions are being asked.
But if members of HoL think it's a great idea they'll go along regularly and make it a great success.

I have to say that I've revised my opinion today. We managed to get there on time to get the take away junior meal. They' ve raised the price to £2.50 but it was phantastic value for money as containing sweet potatoes and Cole slaw; the portion was generous (enough for an adult). Staff were attentive this time, too.
