I would like to say that the " Hornsey Town Hall " to my amasment, is the same age as me 80. When I lived in Salisbury in Harringay, back in 1964, I use to go to the Town Hall to Dancing, which was held for quite a number of Years in the 50s and 60s. They had some Great Big Bands there from time to time, with Leta Rosa Singing. Also another Great Venu for Dancing was the " Tottenham Royale " which was one of Mecca Dance Halls around the UK, back in the " Good Old Days " when Life in the UK was Safe and I mean SAFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad to say that I left the England in November 1964 and had a Wonderful Holiday on board the Canberra Cruise Ship, as a Migrant with my Family ( a £10 Pom ), for Austalia, which turned out to be the best move in my Life. I have been back to the UK and Harringay for 4 times now and each time it seems the Whole Country is Falling Apart. I loved living in London in the Old Days, 30s to the 60s, Life was so much easier and Free !!!!!!!!! without all the Traffic and People. I would rather relive through the War Years in Harringay London, than there now. The Old Saying " You can Take the Boy out of London but not The London out of the Boy " that still holds true for me. Good Luck to all you who Live in Harringay. Cheers, Eddie from Brisbane Australia

It was oh, so safe. As kids and teenage girls, we walked everywhere in Harringay and Wood Green, even late at night after dances and parties.
Hi Eddie from Ozzie. I live not too far from you, in Hong Kong, and have many happy memories of Harringay. We lived at the last house at the bottom of Seymour Road, opposite the Salisbury, throughout the 40s, 50s and early 60s. I was the second daughter of a single-parent family and life was tough. Still, my memories are those of a cheerful community that kept an eye out for each other. Glad your memories are happy, too!
Hornsey County School choir used to take part in the annual celebrations at Hornsey Town Hall for Empire Day. That dates me!
