Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone on the ladder streets has had a side return extension done and has had planning permission?
We are refurbishing a house on Burgoyne Road and have had some very mixed messages from Haringey planning office for our proposal (one officer said it looked fine and another said it would be unacceptable). It's a fairly standard proposal to make a more usable kitchen space (we currently have a series of smaller rooms).
Apparently it will help our case if others have had planning permission accepted.
Many thanks in advance
Clarissa

Hi Dermot, we have recently moved to Duckett Road and are thinking of doing the side return. I hope that the building works have gone well - assuming that it has, I wondered if you could provide details of the builders and architects that you used please?
Thanks,
Isabel
Our works went really well and we are delighted with the finished product. Text me on 07779 101613 and we can arrange for you to pop in to have a look and have a chat. Welcome to Duckett Rd.
Hi Dermot
I live on Duckett road and I would like to get a quote for extending my kitchen or building a conservatory. Would you mind giving me the details of the builders you have used please?
Thanks
Antonella

Hi Dermot - Just looking at side extensions on HoL. We are looking to do the same but have no idea where to start! Could you give us a steer? Thanks Alice
Thanks Clarissa we will defintely look into this.
It may be that this will become a common local solution to extending houses, based on a common design. I can't find it but LBH has a design template for the houses in St Anns and Seven Sisters that house large Hasidic families where moving is not a desirable solution to overcrowding, they are allowing height extensions especially where a row of houses can be built up as one so keeping a coherent frontage. Look along any road south of the South Tottenham railway line to see this in practice. I think this was published about 2 years ago as policy to short-cut planning appns.
Look at what they are using the localism bill to do in Hackney - http://hackneyplanningwatch.wordpress.com/
Yes, friends who live in those wards have long time said that planning in Hackney is dodgy, that no action is taken against illegal conversions. One friend lives next door to houses where both sides have illegally dug out the basement to add extra floors. Her house is cracking . No-one on the council will help her.
