I know this is being discussed in another current thread, but can we have a dedicated thread for the new fish and chip shop opening on Green Lanes near Harringay Green Lanes station? Yes, we can. Not least because it looks quite big and interesting, eg, restaurant and takeaway.
Pav I am stealing your photo from today. Hope you don't mind.
Toffs in Muswell Hill - not worth the trip (IMHO)
George's - OK (ditto)
Priory Fish Bar - OK (ditto)
New one that might be called Hashtag Fish and Chips - fish fingers crossed that it's excellent.
I really am quite excited.

Me and hubby were very excited about this new fish&chips opening and went there after came back from holidays as fridge was empty :) We ordered fish and chips, scampi and mushy peas and despite not being busy at all, it took over 20 min to be cooked as they realized they cooked the fish and not the scampi and the fish had already started to get cold. Plus after we had paid and taken a look in the bag, we realised the mushy peas were missing! Way overpriced and the taste of the fish was quite bland, without talking about the chips, which were even worse! Not going to try it again. Going back to my George`s fish that`s delicious and always cooked fresh.
still waiting to hear when the f&c in Park Road (Crouch End) will open.
yes, i asked the men working there about a month ago and was told 3 weeks don't know Cannon's so it is interesting to learn that we can expect high prices!
George's on Tottenham Lane (opp Police Station) are very good. Also Priory as Maddy suggests.
Fish and chips seems a bit hit and miss wherever you get it. We had some at Peter's Fish Factory in Ramsgate on Sat - a highly recommended joint with a long queue, which is usually a good sign as everything is freshly cooked. But the batter was oily and too thick and the fish very bland - most disappointing. Cheaper than the new local joint thought.
Priory Fish Bar, which I don't think anyone has mentioned yet on this thread, is probably the best bet locally, unless you want to pay Toff's prices in Muswell Hill.
In some ways Toffs might be considered cheaper because their food is edible.
We tried #hashtag - it will be one visit only for us.
