Those of you who've been on HoL for a while may remember Arthur Astrop.
Arthur joined HoL not long after it stared and added a whole series of posts about his childhoood here in the 1920s.
I've just been in touch with Arthur after spotting his family name on a 1942 Finsbury Park Empire Programme. During that exchange I learned that Arthur's recently celebrated his 92nd birthday. So here's a belated happy birthday to an honoroary member of the Harringay alumni - surely the grandfather of the Harringay diaspora illuminati!

Best wishes, Arthur, for many more years.
Hugh, I think it's time we started planning for HolCentenary Medals.
Dear OAE,
How kind of you to send 'best wishes'. I visit HoL regularly, to see what's folk are up to on the dear old patch, and not least to check on comments by yourself. You can be relied on for the type of dry, witty comment which I enjoy. Long may you do so!
I am told that on being on being introduced to me, her first (and, as it turned out, only) grandchild, my maternal grandmother said 'you'll never rear him!' Well, I've made it to 92, but I must confess I'm slowing down. Old age, I fear, comes at a bad time.
Best wishes,
Arthur
