I thought you were talking about iceland on green lanes, i thought they might be brokering a deal so the bus lane isn't blocked by an iceland lorry every morning in rush hour. I thought this was a local website for local issues...
Yup - Haringey Council is in up to its neck.

The site has a local focus Andrew, but you'll find that we don't seek to restrict content to just local issues. But that's certainly where the focus is and where it'll remain.

The level of the council tax paid by residents in Harringay Ward (and Haringey)

THE frozen council bank accounts with Icelandic banks are a local issue in several parts of Britain, but no where more so than Kent and Haringey.

Everyone who is a council-tax payer who lives either in Harringay Ward or in Haringey Borough, may yet be affected by the council's decision to invest £37,000,000 of our money in banks paying unusually high rates of interest.

The level of council tax (capped) and the other ways in which the council takes our money (CPZ fines and banner advertising etc) couldn't be more local. We must all hope our council is successful in regaining the lost funds and this doesn't have the feared effect, although the loss of considerable interest payments seems inevitable.

It was a surprise to many local council-tax payers that Haringey had salted away so much cash anywhere. But who would have guessed 15 years ago that a local website would find the fate of Icelandic banks relevant? That's globalisation for you ... (one of the morals of this story is, I think, don't invest money in banks not incorporated in and subject to the jurisdiction of, ones own country).
