Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Dreaming of promises for fish and chips, Ice-cream, Vietnamese and a place called Trumps: Any updates?

I am delighted that so many new venues have opened on our high street in the last couple of years, giving us more diversity in places to go. I think it encourages people like me to stay and socialise locally and my friends have more of an incentive to come here (other than of course the pleasure of my company and their favourite Turkish restaurants). However, I was wondering if anybody has updates on places I read about on HoL some time ago that have yet to open. These are:

(1) TRUMPS: A cafe or restaurant near the beaconsfield, with amazing interiors. (Hugh gave us a glimpse of these through photos he posted some time ago).
(2) FISH & CHIP RESTAURANT: Near the bridge where the Greek record shop trehandiri used to be.
(3) VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT: Near the Salisbury. (The last I heard was that their licence application was rejected and they were appealing).
(4) ICE-CREAM SHOP: On the site where Hanci used to be.
(5) Any other bars, cafes or restaurants that I've forgotten about or that I am not aware of.

I like Toffs but George's on St Ann's Road is not bad. I have always liked Rock and Chips was also my dad's favourite. My uncles fish and Chips shop in Charlton was a big part of our lives when I was a kid - I remember the potato peeling and cutting !! Problem is that fish is more expensive now comparatively so chicken and frozen chips has taken over sadly,
I would imagine that they all use "chippers" rather than hand cut. But still it's fresh potatoes rather the sacks of frozen thin fries.

I find Toffs rather expensive and am always happy to go to George's on Tottenham Lane, opposite the police station. No deep-fried Mars Bars though :-(

When is Jam in a Jar re-opening ? Any news
