Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello everyone,

Today i changed a socket and the new screw which attached the plug face to the metal box within the wall was not long enough - the old screws were longer, the old screws are rusty and rounded - i would like to use chrome new ones so does anyone know the standard size of these screws (diameter) so i can order some off ebay to save me popping into the electrical shop ? thanks

3.5 mm.

Where do you live ? I have a couple 4 cm long you could have.

Hi John,

Thanks - found some in LIDO today in the morning but thanks for the offer! and just in Harringey road opposite the ladder.

...and Screwfix although eBay was cheaper......

Thanks everyone!

I have some sockets that need changing but I'm a bit scared to do it myself - electricity being dangerous and all that... is it fairly straightforward? (and obvs I know to turn everything off at the fuse box!)  I used to ask my Dad this stuff - he could do everything, and would talk me through it on Skype - but he is no longer with us.

Should look up a YouTube vid really...
