One other suggestion - go to the market at Chestnuts school (by Chestnuts park) and have something from one of the stalls, I had a shrimp sandwich for lunch yesterday it was amazing.
Thanks for the recommendation Sophie - glad you enjoyed!!! xx
So tell us, tigha. What did you eat and what was the verdict?
Well we had decided on sunday roast at GNRT, but rang to confirm lunch time, and their kitchen has been closed for refurbishing- should be reopening this week- glad we checked
So we decided to try Autogragh as neither of us had been there before so thought we should- have to say it was great if you like that kind of thing- cant say polish food would be top of my meal choices but food was cooked very well. My friend had the meal of the day which was lamb goulash-good, very tender, and dumplings which i thought were disgusting- but my friend liked them and ate the lot. i had the chicken, with cheese and mushrooms and rice,(safe option)which was also very good, not overcooked. large portions as well
But they served both dishes with a bowl of 3 different salads- now usually I love salad- and \I tucked into their carrot salad, which was totally disgusting- we both agreed this time- must be an acquired taste. we then shared the hot apple pie and ice cream, again large portions and think we licked the plate clean- its got a lovely feel to the place- we sat out the back and ended up there for a few hours getting slowly sozzled as a result- very good value
Didnt know Brouhaha did food now- I made my 2nd trip there ever last week-(initially for the opening)- and its really not happening for me there- its souless
So my preferences for green lanes remain with Selale, Durrazzo, and Indika- also love jam in a jar as an alternative- havent been to the other places yet
Try the café at Manor house- it has a garden at the back overlooking the park and food and service are good. Also the burger place on Green Lanes, Burger and Bun does fabulous burgers and rosemary or sweet potato chips.
We had lunch at Hala and it was fabulous as always - my favourite!
ah, had forgotten about the lovely cafe at manor house- esp if can sit outside in the park-
