Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Creative minds?

I was wondering if anyone is interested in starting an arts and crafts group with me? Maybe once a month on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Fairly informal, just come along and bring what you are working on then we can see where we want to go from there, maybe the occasional skills sharing workshop, demonstration or event visit. I would want to encourage all ages and to pass on skills and knowledge to the younger generation. I have experience in textiles and my partner has experience in carpentry and design tech, fine art and stained glass.

Oh dear! Well I'm home now as I have someone coming for lunch. Not a complete waste of time for me as I got chatting to the lady on the quilting stall outside the church and she would also like to join in and knows of a venue. I've spoken to Tonie as well and we will arrange another time.

sorry about this morning, i don't know why i put it in my head that it was at 6pm.

anyway, you know i am interested as i had to get off the cab in my way to you.

sunday will be good but send me a text message if will be better for me.

how many people are interesting so far and what do most of them do?

if most is textiles, we might as well create a textile group.

batik and resist printing is my thing though i also crochet, do beading and papier mache. i am also into photoshop (amateur), webdesign (amateur) and organising exhibition (looking at being a pro). 

i also have a studio at the chocolate factory

so i am all your.

me too, sunday morning or sunday evening.

i do drama 3.00 to 6.00pm

mind you, we could also do it through skype one evening, might as well use technology. hum.........will might my kids to help me out, but well why not? at least we could manage to get everyone at let say....9.00pm in the week end?

Hi, personally I would much rather do it in person, I hate using Skype! We can sort out a time when everyone is free. I can be pretty flexible time-wise but can't do weekend 6-8 March as I'm away.

Also this really is very much in the beginning stage but I would like it to be broader than just textiles to encourage more people from different walks of life and ages to join in and to encourage the skills sharing element. My partner is also very keen to get involved and he isn't interested in textiles at all. My aim eventually, as this grows, is really for a mixed collective with different things going on and different people leading projects and events and people can choose what to get involved with, maybe that is a bit ambitious but I like to stretch things a bit!!!

How about we swap email addresses and maybe get a few things down via email? I can also talk to a few other artists and makers who have expressed an interest in the meantime and ask for their suggestions and availability for meeting up. There's an online calendar thingy that people can check their availability and it shows the most suitable time. I will look into it tomorrow.

How did I just come across this?  I'm definitely up for a meetup.  I knit, I have taught knitting classes and designed patterns in the past but these days mostly knit other people's patterns to relax and cope with day-to-day life!  

Interested in possibly learning other textile stuff too - like indigo dyeing, and I bought some fabric to make a patchwork cushion a while ago but haven't settled on a design.

More generally, trying to make it more of a general arts group as well as textiles so if anyone has anything else to bring to the table that would be great. I would really like to learn bookbinding or electroplating techniques.
