Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I've picked up the following snippets today:

  • During 2012 Network Rail is making capacity improvements to the route between Alexandra Palace and Finsbury Park. At Finsbury Park station, a disused platform will be brought back into use and platform extensions will pave the way for 12 car trains.
  • Finsbury Park will become a stopping point for Thameslink cross-London services, currently scheduled for 2018.
  • There are proposals to provide step-free access to the above ground rail platforms by 2014.

The Government have included Alexandra Palace station in the Access for All programme. Working with local residents, the Hornsey & Wood Green MP campaigned for step-free access for Alexandra Palace station. Video here:

Why does she have to 'fight' for this Clive? I would have thought it would be 'selbstverständlich' (for Joe!) in 2015.

I would remind you that over 80% of the stations in my capital city (Underground and Overground) already have step-free access, with the rest all completed by 2020. A 100% low-floor tram fleet by 2017 - all buses already are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-cl=84503534&x-yt-ts=14219146...  as well as the latest step-free tram extension opened four weeks ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AYqHRbrzgo
