What is Gaelic football?

Gaelic football is a type of football played mainly in Ireland between teams of fifteen players, with a goal resembling that used in rugby but having a net attached. The object is to kick or punch the round ball into the net (scoring three points) or over the crossbar (one point).

Eire Og and Holloway Gaels men’s and ladies Gaelic football club

After 65 years of playing and following Gaelic football, I still haven't worked out why Cumann Luithcleas Gael insist on referring to the code as "men's and ladies' Gaelic football". Surely Gentlemen's and Ladies' or Men's and Women's GF would make more sense? Are they hoping to feminise the women's game out of all recognition? B'fhéidir go bfhuil míniú éigin ag Éire Óg nó Holloway Gaels ?

My 11yr old daughter came back from Mayo in the summer having spent a week at a Gaelic football 'camp' and loved it - is there anything out there for children?

Hi Steve,

We currently only have adult teams but we are currently in the process of developing a plan to create a youth and under age set-up.

Once I have more information on this I will share it on here.

Thanks for that - I look forward to hearing from you.
