Anyone lost a cat over the holidays? Lovely Tabby cat.
HI everyone again,
Merry Christmas! Has anyone lost a young tabby cat or know a neighbour who has lost one? See photos attached.
This lovely one was found on Christmas Eve (Rutland Gardens) and we have been looking after it ever since - feeding it and letting it live in our shed with blanket and box. He/she has a blue flea collar on but nothing else. It is very friendly but wants to come in all the time so we think it is definately someone's indoor pet. Maybe someone who has gone away for Christmas who thought their cat was inside back it got out?

Also if you have any idea what we should do next if owner doesn't come forward as this has never happened to us before. Is there someone we should ring?

Well done for looking after it. If no-one recognises the cat - then you could take it to a vet and get it scanned to see if it is microchipped - they won't charge you and no appointment is needed. The vet will tell you if male or female and whether it is neutered.
If the cat is not microchipped, then you could put the cat's details in the found pets on www.animalsearchuk.co.uk
Also the same website lists details of lost cats.
You could try attaching a note to the collar with your tel no and see if any owner calls you.
You could put up some flyers and ask your neighbours if they recognise it and those with gardens backing on to yours.
If you have a microwave, a Snugglesafe heat pad will keep the cat warm for hours.
(Flea collars don't work and can be harmful to cats).

No problem. A similar thing happened to us last christmas. An injured cat took up residence in our garden so we looked after him over christmas. In the end, we found the owner, who lived a few doors away. They had had the cat for 4 years. They decided to get a dog before christmas and the cat was frightened of the dog and they had been fighting. They were keeping the dog and said they didn't want the cat anymore and just expected the cat to go off and find another home! Anyway, they offered to take it to Cats Protection. We felt sorry for him so we gave him a home and he's here all cosy now.
If the cat is not neutered, it's best to get it neutered.
Hopefully the cat will have an owner - I always encourage cat owners to get their cat neutered and microchipped and have a catflap.

Well done for taking it in.
If an owner isn't identified or doesn't come forward are you able to keep the cat? If not would you consider fostering it until a home is found? More info is available on this from Wood Green Animal Shelter or Cats Protection at Archway. Please don't take it to the RSPCA because they put animals down if a home can't be found.
I know a couple of ladies who foster and rehome cats who can give you some advice, if you send me a connection request I can send you contact details.

No not yet. I think his family came back.
