Last updated 16:45 Tue 23 Dec : Traffic is slow on diversion in both directions, with southbound tailbacks on the High Road to Monument Way and tailbacks on Broad Lane beyond Ferry Lane. Traffic is slow northbound with tailbacks westbound on Amhurst Park to Clapton Common and on Stamford Hill towards Stoke Newington. Expect delays.

It's getting worse.

So there should be lots of fines from morons blocking the box junction then.

Wouldn't have been a problem if they'd kept the gyratory

Doubt it. This goes >two miles in every direction, regardless of whether it goes round in a circle or along straight lines.  The gyratory was originally built to stop the tail-backs from Broad Lane to Stamford Hill of all the Essex traffic turning right to head home - that's why there's no right turn there in the new scheme. Correct route is up to Monument Way and eastwards from there.

We <3 's our two-way system, we just wish those passing through would learn the new directions. And stop blocking every &^%^^&*)( junction.

The pre-1970 tailbacks went back along Seven Sisters Road past St Ann's Rd and 'the town'.

Don't understand what point John is trying to make. The gyratory was bad for Tottenham. stop,

Was just saying that there wouldn't have been a problem with southbound traffic, because there wasn't any.

BTW Pamish, I think the graphic is saying " You are totally screwed "

They have taken it down now. Good job I saved it, I can use it to head up my next bit of feedback.

The cameras seem to show it has eased off now. Tomorrow is another day.

You're right, it's just on the northbound side of the road. What crap planning.

I just sent in a five-page feedback report on the gyratory, eight months on. That was mostly on my local bit in Page Green, and the failure of the scheme to shift traffic off Broad Lane. I said they need box junctions all over the place because of traffic backing up at every crossing, and drivers being morons who need yellow lines on the road to show them how not to be morons.  But I think box junctions have to be patrolled by cameras. The 'Keep clear' markings are not, so they could at least slap down some of those at not much cost.

I may call 101 in the morning to suggest that they need to police this traffic crisis, before there is a Road Rage Incident.   Who does that these days, police with stripy sleeves? Traffic wardens? Volunteers?   Dunno why they chose these two days this side of xmas to do the bridge work, would have made more sense to make it next week. Tottnhm Hale full of panic shoppers today.

Click on the cameras on this TfL map for real-time updates of the mess.  Looks like it won't clear for hours, dammit, I had a load of errands to run. Even buses will be useless. Click 'View nearby jam cams' and zoom out.

Planning to visit the Tottenham Hale 'Retail Park'?  Lidl's free range turkeys calling?  Get the tube. Buses are no use either. This goes on till Sunday.

What an interesting image...
