Does anyone out there have recent experience of converting their basement into a living space and feel able to recommend a builder/structural engineer/architect.
Many Thanks

Hi Gearoid
I suggest you give David O'Doherty a ring. I've not had any basement work done but he's done quite a bit of structural work for me, and friends, which has required drawings and sign off by Haringey Council. David does a range of building work but his particular speciality is in structural work and has completed numerous extensions as well as new builds and often has had to 'dig' footings of a few metres! He is well insured and more than willing to provide details. David is a decent and honest builder who will do an excellent job at a reasonable cost. You can contact him on: 07830119421
Hi Gerry,
Did you go ahead with this? Interested as we are about to do the same. Our basement is already semi-done, but needs properly damp-proofing and we're also thinking of extending the space. We haven't got a lot of head-height, but probably enough for the spare bedroom we're hoping it will be.
Best,
Deepa
Hello Gearoid, i realise i'm a little late to this thread but incase you are still considering, i'm a local architect and would be very happy to meet with you to run through what you are looking to do. I've worked on a number of basements, and have a few projects in construction at the moment.
I work with an engineer and surveyor so between us we offer a full suite of design services that you need to get through, including the structural design and party wall agreements. Also have builder recommendations if of interest. I run a small practice www.31architects.com specialising in residential work. Happy to pop over for free consultation if it would help, thanks, Shelley
