Doctor's Surgery recommendations
Can anyone recommend any good doctors surgeries in the area of Green Lanes/Seven Sisters? I've been registered with both Chestnuts Park and The Laurels in the past and have found them to be utterly useless, I can never get an appointment when I need one, they won't do repeat prescriptions unless you go in in person (and even then require checkups every 6 months) and their opening hours are utterly incompatible with anyone who has a full-time job, I'm at my wits end! Would you recommend your surgery?

I've been with chestnuts park for the past 12 years and in the main I echo your sentiments but things seem to be changing for the better a bit now. You can order repeats and book appointments online now and have your meds delivered. If they can't fit you in you can request the doctor to phone you, if she thinks she needs to see you she'll ask you in that day. I say she because there are two really good, new, young docs there at the moment. Dr Black is one, can't remember the other. They also have new front line staff who actually seem pleasant! Maybe give them another go? Like you, I was at the end of my tether with them but am happier now.

This sounds good. I've just moved to just off West Green Road, so I'm looking for a GP. Unfortunately it seems my medical needs are increasing so choice of GP has become a more important decision. I met a neighbour last night who said "don't to to West Green Surgery, the receptionist is horrible". She's with Lawrence House. Said they have two female GPs now.
But maybe Chestnuts Park is worth checking out. Such terrible reviews on NHS Choices though, even since the new doctors started.

I'd second this - I've noticed real changes at Chestnuts Park in recent months after some bad experiences there in the past few years. I've seen both Dr Neary and Dr Black and they were both good, and it is now possible to get some continuity rather than seeing a different doctor every time. I used their online consultation form last week which worked well and have used the online appointment booking - these definitely make things easier (and avoid having to talk to the receptionists). I think they had a huge mess to sort out when they came in last July, but they've made a lot of improvements since then.

Yes, Dr Neary, I'd forgotten her name and Dr Black are great, young and approachable female doctors. I feel very comfortable with them as do my kids who are teens and young adults. There's also a Pharmacy in the building now which has cropped up in the last week or so. The reviews are terrible online, looks like they are trying to move forward though. Nearly keeled over in reception today when the receptionist remembered my name and gave me my repeat script, with a smile and a chat, without me asking for it! I know! ;-)

Lawrence House surgery on Philip Lane. Book appointments/repeat prescriptions online. Telephone appointments if not too serious a problem. Lovely doctors and practice nurses. Even the receptionists are friendly. Changed to them about 9 months ago because I became diabetic and my previous surgery was useless. Very pleased with them.

There is a massive GP shortage in this area. I'm Seven Sisters/Tottenham Hale - I had great experiences at the Tynemouth road medical practise, they were great but in the last few years with so many people moving to the area they are very overstretched and I can rarely get an appointment - even if you planned to be sick 6 months in advance you won't get an appointment these days. Hope you get sorted and sorry I can't give any useful advice

I joined west green surgery recently and so far I am happy with them. They are also a training surgery which is always a good sign.

I joined JS Medical Practice on Phillip Lane when I moved to the area. They have good friendly receptionists, you can get repeat prescriptions via fax (yes retro) and email. I have need to go to the Doctor a lot more this year and found them to be attentive and offer good advice. They also operate a late hours surgery on a Monday and Tuesday which is good for us full time workers.
They share with Lawrence House and beware not to join the wrong queue as their receptionist is a bit of grump.

This is well worth knowing - not sure I'm in the catchment area but will check this out as I am so thoroughly sick of Fearnlea's booking "system", even if the doctors are great.
I am really afraid of getting ill these days tbh. When I think about the one or two times when I've needed urgent GP appointments in the past, I shudder to think what would happen if those problems recurred now, because I don't think I'd get seen.

I'm at Fernlea. Three week wait for my last appointment, but if you need to see them on the day you can wait, couple of hours with a book does it. But for the first time since I've been here, they are not taking new patients. There's a massive crisis in Tottenham. A new surgery was built at Tottenham Hale but as they could not recruit GPs it's become a dialysis centre.
At the very depressing TH and Seven Sisters area forum last night, we were told that there is no escape from the 10000 new dwellings arriving on (and in place of) our doorsteps in the next five years - that's 25 to 30000 extra people, minimum, a 30+% increase in population on top of what's already here. But the NHS board will not commit to providing more health care till there are definite plans. Ditto new schools. Not as if we're struggling already. The council blames the London Plan ie the mayor, their own ambitions are irrelevant.
