Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

My novel, The Missing Fridge, will be available for free on Kindle this weekend. The story is set in and around Tottenham and, as you might have deduced, concerns the mysterious disappearance of a fridge. To put it in a nutshell, Micky and Kana, the couple who have lost their fridge, dream up lots of weird theories (one wacky notion being that the fridge was taken by agents in the employ of Bruce Springsteen) but then these all begin to come true. I don't know whether you will share my rather obscure sense of humour, but to give you an idea here is one of the fridge poems which Micky and Kana create...

MIRAGE

We realised our fridge was a mirage
When it went off to the Gobi Desert
We must have been eating mirages too
Though we hadn't got any thinner
We went back to the shop we got the fridge from
But they just p*ssed themselves laughing
That's the consumerist society for you, we thought
We spoke to our MP David Lammy
He said 'Wooh! That's really jammy'
We said 'No it's not
You must have missed the point.'

As I say the book will be free on Kindle this weekend. If you don't have the Kindle player you can download onto most smartphones or your pc. I think that The Missing Fridge is full of wonderful jokes and ideas and imagination, and I'd be very pleased if you had a look at it. The link at the top of my post is to my page on Amazon.  Happy reading!

We'll be downloading this, all the best

thank you

I'd be interested in hearing about the process of selling/giving away a book digitally, could you spare a little time to explain the process?

Hi Pete

Thanks for your good wishes and sorry this is one of the slowest replies ever. In answer to your question anybody can put their books onto Kindle (or various other similar sites). It takes a bit of doing, but I managed it eventually and I'm not very good at all with computers. Once you're on Kindle it's then quite easy to sign up to give your book away for free for 5 days, which is said to be the MiracleGro for success. It hasn't quite made me into the new JK Rowling yet, but I'm hoping The Missing Fridge will be a slowburner!

All the best

John

Thanks for your gift of your book - Good luck
